Tired of the AI hype that causes confusion and fuels fear and stops the search to solve a career rut?

CGB Report #003 presents updates of the ongoing investigation into how AI is changing the job search. The purpose is to highlight solutions that open new possibilities for ending a career rut in the age of AI. This CGB Report #003 places a spotlight on AI hype and how it affects the job search.

I don’t know about you but I’m tired of the AI hype that:

causes confusion
fuels fear
stops the search to solve a career rut.

The last CGB Report asked the question:

If possibilities exist for finding solutions for ending a career rut in the age of AI, then how are they found?

That report began by CGB re-stating that it is possible to find solutions to end a career rut in the Age of AI. The report then focused on:

The change in the hiring process.
Steps to take to adjust to the hiring process.

Since then, I’ve gone down the AI “rabbit hole.”

This is what I’ve discovered.

Curiosity takes courage and resilience.
The basics remain the same.

How does this information help to live in the possibilities to find solutions to end a career rut?

I admit it took me some time to find how to use this information to live in the possibilities to find solutions to end a career rut.

But, when I was at the bottom of the “rabbit hole,” I got uncomfortable and I could feel a rise in my blood pressure. I started to feel trapped. Well, I don’t like feeling trapped; so, I turned-on my courage to take another look at this gloom and doom.

I started with Walmart. It’s an American company. It’s been around since 1962. I don’t agree with everything they do; but, they’ve been consistent in supporting American values. I took another look at the title and it just didn’t sound like Walmart. So, I dug for more details. This is what I found.

Walmart CEO, Doug McMillan, was interviewed by Harvard Business Review.

Walmart's CEO Predicts AI Will Transform Every Job

Mr. McMillan does indeed say that “AI will transform every job.” But, he, also, gives details about how Walmart is using AI as a tool to “transform” the customer experience and the job experience. Walmart has a plan in place to assist employees in learning the skills needed to work with AI and build a company in tune with modern technology.

Not so gloom and doom!

Yet, when I Googled “Walmart CEO Prediction about how AI will transform jobs,” these are a couple of the results I got:

One person saying one thing and so many people interpreting it in many different ways at a very fast pace adds to the hype and increases the confusion.

This research reveals the value of paying attention to the who, what, when, and where of information gathered during any type of research conducted on the internet.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

What actions can be taken to adjust to the AI hype during the search for possibilities to find solutions to end a career rut?

STEP ONE: Be courageously curious and resilient.

Ask the right question.

If the response you get seems “off.” Try again. Rephrase the question and/or try another search engine. Yes. This makes a difference!

Check the source of the information. Who’s saying it and who’s reporting it.

STEP TWO: The basics remain the same.

Grow the skills and abilities you have.

Build your strengths to build a solid foundation for your career growth journey.

STEP THREE: Words are important.

Pay attention to how others use them.

Determine how you can use word power to create your path to career growth.

There is no doubt that changes are happening in the workplace. But, the jobs are out there. With courage and resilience they can be found.
